When there are more applications than places for 2027-28 (Year 7), places are offered in this order of priority. Meeting a higher criterion beats meeting a lower one.
If two applications tie: In the event of there being insufficient places to meet the total required for this list, distance, the Hertfordshire County Council home school measurement system will be used as a tie break. Hertfordshire County Council's 'straight line' distance measurement system is used, measured from the AddressBase Premium address point of the child's house to the address point of the school, to two decimal places. In the event of two or more girls having identical distances the Governors will admit above the published admission number, with no further places allocated from the continuing interest list until the total falls below the PAN.
Places are allocated first by the five faith/looked-after 'Priority' bands (1-5), and within each Priority by Categories A-F (sibling; staff child; compelling social/medical reason; St Albans area feeder schools; feeder schools outside St Albans area; all other girls) as published, i.e. the true rank order is Priority1-CategoryA, Priority1-CategoryB, ... through Priority5-CategoryF. PAN is 150, though stated as previously 160 for some year groups at secondary transfer. Children with an EHCP naming the school are admitted before oversubscription criteria are applied (as required by law).
