If two applications tie: In the event of two or more children meeting the same criteria, and provisions described within these supporting notes, priority will be given to the child who lives the shortest straight line distance measurement provided by Hertfordshire County Council's GIS system. Where the final place is offered to two or more families that live equal distance to the school a lottery will take place in the presence of an independent witness to determine which applicant will be given priority.

Priorities within each criterion also give top priority to special social/pastoral/medical need (a), siblings in criteria 9-15 (b), before applying distance tie-break (c), then twins/multiple births provision (d).
