When there are more applications than places for 2027-28 (Reception), places are offered in this order of priority. Meeting a higher criterion beats meeting a lower one.

1. 1Looked After Children (LAC) and Previously Looked After Children (PLAC) — 'Looked After Children (LAC) and Previously Looked After Children (PLAC)'.
2. 2Siblings — Children who have siblings living in the same household at the same address with at least one parent/guardian in common and who will themselves be attending the school at the time of the proposed admission.
3. 3Nursery attendance within two miles — Children who attend the school nursery and live within two miles of the school.
4. 4Anglican worship — Children domiciled with parents, legal guardians or carers, at least one of whom worships at least twice monthly for a minimum of two years, in an Anglican place of worship. Either the place of worship must be established, or the child must live, within two miles of the school. The Governors reserve the right to ask the Parish Priest to confirm the regularity of worship.
5. 5Other Christian denomination worship — Children domiciled with parents, legal guardians or carers, at least one of whom worships at least twice monthly for a minimum of 2 years in a church or chapel of a Christian denomination affiliated nationally to 'Churches Together in England' or to 'The Evangelical Alliance'. Either the place of worship must be established, or the child must live, within two miles of the school. The Governors reserve the right to ask the Priest or Minister to confirm the regularity of worship.
6. 6Other world faiths — Children of major world faiths whose parents, legal guardians or carers participate in worship regularly in accordance with the commitments of the relevant faith, for a minimum of two years, and desire them to attend this Church of England school because of the school's religious tradition. Either the place of worship must be established, or the child must live, within two miles of the school. The Governors reserve the right to ask the appropriate religious leader to confirm the regularity of participation in their own faith.
7. 7Children of staff — Children of staff at St John's School.
8. 8All other children — All other children.

If two applications tie: Priority will be given in each category based on the proximity of the applicant's home address to the school – measured in a straight line between the Ordnance Survey's address references for the School and the applicant's address using the London Borough of Harrow's computerised measuring system. Those living closer to the school receive higher priority. In the case of two children having the same distance, random allocation will be used.

The agreed class size may be exceeded for members of a multiple birth family (excepted pupils) in line with the Infant Class Size Requirement. Children with an EHCP naming the school are admitted before oversubscription criteria are applied.
