When there are more applications than places for 2027-28 (Reception), places are offered in this order of priority. Meeting a higher criterion beats meeting a lower one.
If two applications tie: Where the offer of places to all the applicants in any of the sub-categories listed above would still lead to oversubscription, the places up to the admission number will be offered to those whose residential address is the shortest distance from the centre point of the St Joseph’s school site... In cases where applicants live equidistant from the school, and places cannot be offered to both children, the places up to the admission number will be decided by means of a lottery which will be carried out by the Governors in the presence of an independent witness.
The document states the PAN of 60 applies 'to the Reception year in the school year which begins in September 2026', though the policy is titled 'ADMISSIONS POLICY 2027 - 2028' and references application deadlines/offer dates for January and April 2028, creating an internal inconsistency in the published document regarding the exact entry year. Also note an 'Exceptional Need' provision allowing top priority within a category for compelling evidence of exceptional pastoral, social or medical need, and a Fair Access Protocol provision allowing absolute priority outside the normal admissions round.
Published by the admission authority. Meeting a criterion never guarantees a place — it sets the order places are offered in. Full detail, other entry points and previous years are on the Admissions tab.
