Distance depends on the band here
Ashcroft Technology Academy admits by banding: applicants are placed into bands and each band is filled separately, so there is no single last-offer distance. Each band has its own, and which one applies depends on your child's assessment — so one number could not answer this for every child.
How the bands work: All children applying for admission into Year 7 will be required to take the Wandsworth Year 6 Non-Verbal Reasoning Test. All applicants who sit the NVR Test will then be placed in one of five ability bands (A-E). Remaining available places (after EHCPs and aptitude criterion) will be allocated from each of the five ability bands so that equal numbers are admitted from each band as best as can be achieved.
Your local authority’s admissions booklet publishes the cut-off for each band. The full ranked criteria are on the Admissions tab.
When there are more applications than places for 2019-20 (Year 7), places are offered in this order of priority. Meeting a higher criterion beats meeting a lower one.
If two applications tie: Straight-line distance from home to the Academy as calculated by Wandsworth Council's Geographical Information System.
Children with an Education, Health & Care Plan (EHCP) where the Academy is the named school are admitted first, before the oversubscription criteria are applied. Children who have not taken the NVR Test will not be considered for a place until offers have been made to those who have taken the NVR Test. The aptitude test does not apply to in-year admissions.
