Wordsworth Primary and Nursery School

When there are more applications than places for 2026-27 (Reception), places are offered in this order of priority. Meeting a higher criterion beats meeting a lower one.

1. 1Looked after and previously looked after children — Children in public care (looked after children) and previously looked after children as defined by section 1.7 of the School Admissions Code 2021.
2. 2Child protection plan — Children subject to a child protection plan.
3. 3Sibling — Children who have a brother or sister already on the roll of the school who will continue to attend that school for the following year – see Explanatory Note 1.
4. 4Catchment area – staff child — Children who live within the school's designated catchment area and are children of qualified teaching staff employed at the school for two or more years at the time of application and/or the member of staff is recruited to fill a vacant post for which there is a demonstrable skill shortage – see Explanatory Note 2 for catchment definition.
5. 5Catchment area – other children — Other children living within the school's designated catchment area.
6. 6Wordsworth Primary School only: Early years pupil premium in school nursery — Wordsworth Primary School only: Children who are eligible for early years pupil premium who are in the school's nursery class.
7. 7Outside catchment – staff child — Children who live outside the school's designated catchment area and are children of qualified teaching staff employed at the school for two or more years at the time of application and/or the member of staff is recruited to fill a vacant post for which there is a demonstrable skill shortage - see Explanatory Note 2 for catchment definition.
8. 8Outside catchment – other children — Other children living outside the school's designated catchment area.

If two applications tie: If the school is oversubscribed from within any of the criteria, then distance, as defined in Explanatory Note 3 will be used to prioritise applications. Should there be two or more identical distances requiring prioritisation, this will be done by drawing lots.

Criterion 6 applies to Wordsworth Primary School only. A PAN reduction at Wordsworth Primary School from 90 to 60 was approved by the Board of Trustees on 16 July 2026 (noted as a post-determination change within the document).
