How places were offered at Sholing Infant School, year by year →
When there are more applications than places for 2027-28 (Reception), places are offered in this order of priority. Meeting a higher criterion beats meeting a lower one.
If two applications tie: If the school is oversubscribed from within any of the criteria, then distance, as defined in Explanatory Note 5 will be used to prioritise applications. Should there be two or more identical distances requiring prioritisation, this will be done by drawing lots. Lots will be drawn by the Trust Independent Admissions Consultant. Explanatory Note 5: “Distances are measured based on the shortest practicable walking distance using public roads and footpaths. Distances are measured from home to school. These are calculated using a computerised mapping system that uses data supplied by Ordnance Survey. Distances are measured from the point designated in the system as the home address to the point designated in the system as the mid-point of the nearest open gate to the school, using public roads and footpaths.”
Hamwic Education Trust is the admission authority (“HET is the Admission Authority for the schools listed in the table below”). Applications submitted by 15 January 2027 are dealt with first. Children with an EHCP that names the school are admitted. Catchment (Explanatory Note 3): “Each school has a designated catchment area defined by a road list which is available on the relevant school’s website.” The trust’s list numbers eight priorities for all its Southampton infant and primary schools; the sixth applies to Wordsworth Primary School only. Published by the admission authority. Meeting a criterion never guarantees a place — it sets the order places are offered in. Full detail, other entry points and previous years are on the Admissions tab.
