Townhill Infant School

When there are more applications than places for 2026-27 (Reception), places are offered in this order of priority. Meeting a higher criterion beats meeting a lower one.

1. 1Looked after and previously looked after children — Children in public care (looked after children) and previously looked after children as defined by section 1.7 of the School Admissions Code 2021.
2. 2Children subject to a child protection plan — Children subject to a child protection plan.
3. 3Siblings — Children who have a brother or sister already on the roll of the school who will continue to attend that school for the following year – see Explanatory Note 1.
4. 4Catchment area children of staff — Children who live within the school's designated catchment area and are children of qualified teaching staff employed at the school for two or more years at the time of application and/or the member of staff is recruited to fill a vacant post for which there is a demonstrable skill shortage – see Explanatory Note 2 for catchment definition.
5. 5Other catchment area children — Other children living within the school's designated catchment area.
6. 6Wordsworth Primary School only: Early years pupil premium children in nursery — Wordsworth Primary School only: Children who are eligible for early years pupil premium who are in the school's nursery class.
7. 7Out-of-catchment children of staff — Children who live outside the school's designated catchment area and are children of qualified teaching staff employed at the school for two or more years at the time of application and/or the member of staff is recruited to fill a vacant post for which there is a demonstrable skill shortage - see Explanatory Note 2 for catchment definition.
8. 8Other out-of-catchment children — Other children living outside the school's designated catchment area.

If two applications tie: Distance, measured as the shortest practicable walking distance using public roads and footpaths, calculated using a computerised mapping system. Should there be two or more identical distances requiring prioritisation, this will be done by drawing lots.

PANs are per-school. Criterion 6 applies to Wordsworth Primary School only. The document notes Wordsworth's PAN was reduced from 90 to 60 for Sep 26 and Sep 27, approved by Board of Trustees 16 July 2026.
