was the furthest place offered on offer day for 2026-27 (Year 7). That is how far the last place reached in ONE year — not a boundary, and not a guarantee. It moves with the number of applicants, so treat it as a guide rather than a line on a map.
Last distance offered at Ashlyns School, year by year →
When there are more applications than places for 2027-28 (Year 7), places are offered in this order of priority. Meeting a higher criterion beats meeting a lower one.
If two applications tie: If more children qualify under a particular rule than there are places available, a tiebreak will be used by applying the next rule to those children. If necessary, and the next rule does not appropriately distinguish between all applicants, home-school distance will be used, with those living closest given priority. In the case of two applicants with exactly the same priority under the admissions rules, but only one place being available, the Governing Body will offer places to both families.
Document also publishes separate Sixth Form admission arrangements: PAN for external admissions September 2027 is 30, based on meeting minimum academic standards (e.g. Grade 4 in English and Maths and average Grade 4 in six other GCSEs), with a tie-break order of: (1) looked after/previously looked after children, (2) home-to-school distance. Priority area for Rules 5, 7 and 8 comprises: Abbots Langley, Aldbury, Ashley Green, Berkhamsted, Bovingdon, Chipperfield, Chorleywood, Croxley Green, Flaunden, Great Gaddesden, Hemel Hempstead, Kings Langley, Little Gaddesden, Nash Mills, Nettleden with Potten End, Northchurch, Rickmansworth (part)/Maple Cross, Sarratt, Tring, Tring Rural, Watford, Wigginton.
Published by the admission authority. Meeting a criterion never guarantees a place — it sets the order places are offered in. Full detail, other entry points and previous years are on the Admissions tab.
