Winhills Primary Academy

When there are more applications than places for 2027-28 (Reception), places are offered in this order of priority. Meeting a higher criterion beats meeting a lower one.

1. 1Children in Care and Previously Looked-After Children — Children in Care (CIC) and Children who were previously in care (CIC) but ceased to be so by reason of adoption, a residence order (now known as a child arrangement order) or special guardianship order.
2. 2Catchment area children with sibling at school (schools with catchment areas) — Children living in the catchment area with a sibling at the school at the time of admission.
3. 3Catchment area children (schools with catchment areas) — Children living in the catchment area.
4. 4Out-of-catchment children with sibling at school (schools with catchment areas) — Children living outside the catchment area who have a sibling at the school at the time of admission.
5. 5Out-of-catchment children unable to gain place at catchment school (schools with catchment areas) — Children living outside the catchment area who have applied and been unable to gain a place at their Cambridgeshire / Peterborough catchment area school because of oversubscription.
6. 6All other out-of-catchment children (schools with catchment areas) — Children who live outside the catchment area.

If two applications tie: In cases of equal merit, priority will go to the child living closest to the school by the shortest distance (as the crow flies). This will be determined using a combination of local maps and online resources e.g. Google Maps. In the event of (a) two or more children living at the same address point (e.g., children resident in a block of flats) or (b) two addresses measuring the same distance from the school, the ultimate tiebreaker will be random selection. This being sealed envelopes with the name of one child per envelope, numbers assigned to children and drawn from an electronic randomiser.

The document covers multiple schools within the Diamond Learning Partnership Trust (DLPT). Two separate oversubscription criteria sets are published: one for schools WITH catchment areas (6 criteria listed above) and one for schools WITHOUT catchment areas (3 criteria: CIC/PLAC; children living closest to school with sibling; children living closest to school). Individual school PANs are listed in a table (Braybrook 30, Burrowmoor 60, Glebelands 60, Gorefield 15, Great Staughton 15, Kimbolton 15, Leverington 30, Middlefield 30, Murrow 15, Round House 60, Thomas Eaton 15, Winhills 30, Wintringham 60). Criteria ranked above reflect the catchment-area schools set; schools without catchment areas have a different shorter set.

Published by the admission authority. Meeting a criterion never guarantees a place — it sets the order places are offered in. Full detail, other entry points and previous years are on the Admissions tab.
