Distance depends on the band here
Trinity Academy Grammar admits by banding: applicants are placed into bands and each band is filled separately, so there is no single last-offer distance. Each band has its own, and which one applies depends on your child's assessment — so one number could not answer this for every child.
How the bands work: Fair Banding: all applicants who sit the non-verbal reasoning assessment are divided into 4 ability bands; the academy admits the required number from each band based on the spread of ability of those applying, so that intake matches the ability profile of applicants. Applicants who sit the assessment are considered for admission first; those who choose not to sit it are 'non-banded' and ranked after all banded applicants, using the oversubscription criteria.
Your local authority’s admissions booklet publishes the cut-off for each band. The full ranked criteria are on the Admissions tab.
When there are more applications than places for 2027-28 (Year 7), places are offered in this order of priority. Meeting a higher criterion beats meeting a lower one.
If two applications tie: If there is an oversubscription in any category, students will be admitted in order of proximity to TAG.
Oversubscription criteria are applied within each ability band, after admission of students with an EHC plan naming the academy. Looked after children and those with an EHC plan who do not take the assessment are allocated to a band via alternative assessment/teacher judgment.
Published by the admission authority. Meeting a criterion never guarantees a place — it sets the order places are offered in. Full detail, other entry points and previous years are on the Admissions tab.
