Ryburn Valley High School

When there are more applications than places for 2027-28 (Year 7), places are offered in this order of priority. Meeting a higher criterion beats meeting a lower one.

1. 1Looked after children — Children looked after and children previously looked after.
2. 2Feeder schools — Children who attend one of these feeder schools: Barkisland CE (VA) Primary; Bolton Brow Academy; Christ Church CE (VA) Junior; Copley Primary; New Road Primary; Norland CE; Ripponden J and I; Sacred Heart Catholic Primary; Trinity Academy St Peters; St John's CE (VA) Primary (Rishworth); St Mary's CE (VA) J and I (Sowerby Bridge); Triangle CE (VC) Primary; Warley Town School.
3. 3Siblings — Children who have a sibling attending the school at the time of admission.
4. 4Ryburn Ward residence — Those children living permanently in the Ryburn Ward as defined by Calderdale MBC (based on the ward boundaries in place when the determined admission arrangements were agreed).
5. 5Children of staff — Children of staff at the school. 'Staff' for this purpose are defined as anyone employed at the school who has a permanent contract with the school at the date of the deadline for Year 7 admissions applications relating to the child in question. (Usually 31st October in the year before the child would start in Year 7.)
6. 6Together Learning Trust primary schools — Pupils attending another Together Learning Trust primary school: Scout Road Academy, Bolton Brow Primary Academy, Linthwaite Clough Primary School, Meltham Moor Primary School.
7. 7All other children — All other children who do not meet the above criteria.

If two applications tie: If, within any criterion, there are more applicants than places available, priority will be given to those living closest to the school. Distance will be measured in a straight line ("as the crow flies") from the child's home address to the main entrance gates of Ryburn Valley High School, using Calderdale Council's electronic mapping system. If two or more applicants live equidistant from the school, the place will be allocated by random draw, conducted and recorded by an independent person.

Pupils will be admitted where this school is named on their Education Health and Care Plan (stated as a legal admission rule, not numbered as part of the oversubscription criteria). PAN is referenced externally via a linked page but not printed as a number in this document.

Published by the admission authority. Meeting a criterion never guarantees a place — it sets the order places are offered in. Full detail, other entry points and previous years are on the Admissions tab.
