Distance did not decide places here
Every applicant who applied on time was offered a place for 2022-23 (Reception), so there was no cut-off distance. This changes from year to year; check the current year's figures before relying on it.
How places were offered at St Ambrose Barlow Catholic Primary School, year by year →
When there are more applications than places for 2027-28 (Reception), places are offered in this order of priority. Meeting a higher criterion beats meeting a lower one.
If two applications tie: If there is oversubscription within a category, the Local Governing Body will give priority to children living closest to the school determined by the shortest distance (straight-line measurement). In the event distances are equal, the Local Authority will use a computerised system to randomly select the child to be offered the final place.
Parish boundaries are as shown on the Archdiocese of Birmingham parish boundary map. The waiting list is maintained until the last day of the summer term 2028. The Local Governing Body will, where logistically possible, admit twins and all siblings from multiple births where one of the children is the last child ranked within the school's published admission number.
Published by the admission authority. Meeting a criterion never guarantees a place — it sets the order places are offered in. Full detail, other entry points and previous years are on the Admissions tab.
