St Michael's CofE Primary Academy

When there are more applications than places for 2027-28 (Reception), places are offered in this order of priority. Meeting a higher criterion beats meeting a lower one.

1. 1Looked after children and previously looked after children — Children in care (Children and Young People in care and children previously classed as ‘Children and Young People in care’ including those children who appear (to the admission authority) to have been in state care outside of England and ceased to be in state care as a result of being adopted).
2. 2Siblings attending the school — Children who are siblings of children already attending the school, at the time of admission. For admission purposes, a sibling is a child who resides permanently at the same address as the child for whom a place is being requested, and is one of the following: • brother/sister • half-brother/sister (i.e., share one common parent) • or stepbrother/sister (i.e., related by a parent’s marriage) • any other child for whom it can be demonstrated that s/he is residing permanently at the same address (e.g., under the terms of a residence order). The sibling connection only applies where the child concerned has a sibling attending the school at the time of the application as well as at the time of admission, (i.e., for normal year of entry applications, siblings will be expected to be attending the same school in September 2026). The sibling connection will not be applied to the application until that sibling is on roll at the school applied for.
3. 3Medical and social reasons — Medical and Social reasons (only in very exceptional circumstances are places allocated in respect of the child’s/parent’s medical or social needs) If parents believe there are specific reasons, medical or social, for claiming priority for their child to attend this school, these special factors must be indicated in the application form and evidence (e.g. a letter from a registered health professional such as a doctor or social worker) to support this claim must be submitted with the Common Application Form. The information submitted must clearly state the effects of the condition/illness and why the preferred school is the only school that can meet the child’s needs.
4. 4Faith reasons — The strength of the family commitment to their particular faith as demonstrated on the Supplementary Information Form (Appendix A). This will be measured by • number of years the family has been worshipping • frequency of visits to the place of worship • involvement in the activities of the place of worship. Supplementary Information Forms will be graded from A to C by a representative group from the Governing Body. Grade A applications will then be ranked above Grade B applications; tie breaker criteria will apply within each group. A. Significant strength of support from a faith leader which demonstrates their family commitment to the life, work and witness of their particular faith B. Minimal strength of support from a faith leader which demonstrates their family commitment to the life, work and witness of their particular faith C. No evidence/incomplete form: these will be ranked within categories 5, 6 and 7.
5. 5Children of staff members — Children whose parent/carer is a member of staff employed at the school for two or more years at the point at which the application for admission to the school is made or where the member of staff is recruited to fill a vacant post for which there is a demonstrable skill shortage, evidenced by the recruitment process.
6. 6Living in the Parish of Tettenhall Regis — Those living within the Ecclesiastical Parish of Tettenhall Regis (i.e., Tettenhall, Aldersley, Pendeford and Bilbrook) Evidence of residency should be supplied at the time an application is made. A map of the parish can be viewed at the school, by appointment.
7. 7Distance from school — Children living closest to the school, determined by the straight-line measurement from the designated point of the home address to the designated point (mid-point of the school’s

Any child with an EHCP naming St Michael's CofE Primary Academy must be offered a place by law - this is a statutory duty applied before oversubscription criteria. A Supplementary Information Form is required for oversubscription point 4 (faith). Distance criterion text appears truncated in source document. CATCHMENT: Living within the Ecclesiastical Parish of Tettenhall Regis (i.e., Tettenhall, Aldersley, Pendeford and Bilbrook). Transcribed from the school's own determined admission arrangements as published by City of Wolverhampton Council. Children with an EHCP naming the school are admitted first; that is a statutory duty, not an oversubscription criterion.

Published by the admission authority. Meeting a criterion never guarantees a place — it sets the order places are offered in. Full detail, other entry points and previous years are on the Admissions tab.
