St Thomas Becket Catholic School

When there are more applications than places for 2026-27 (Year 7), places are offered in this order of priority. Meeting a higher criterion beats meeting a lower one.

1. 1Looked after children and all previously looked after children
2. 2Catholic children with a Certificate of Catholic Practice who have a brother or sister attending the school at the time of admission
3. 3Catholic children with a Certificate of Catholic Practice who attend an OLICAT Primary School designated as a feeder school
4. 4Other Catholic children
5. 5Children of staff who have either: a) been employed at the school for two or more years at the time the application for admission to that school is made, and/or b) the member of staff is recruited to fill a vacant post for which there is a demonstrable skill shortage
6. 6Children who have a brother or sister attending the school at the time of admission
7. 7Children who attend an OLICAT Primary School designated as a feeder school
8. 8Children from other Christian denominations whose parents wish them to receive a Christian education whose application is supported by a Christian minister
9. 9Children of other faiths whose membership is evidenced by a minister of religion or other religious leader
10. 10Any other children In the event that any criterion is over-subscribed, priority will be given to applicants in order of geographical proximity to the school (priority being given to the children who live closer to the school). The Local Authority’s geographical information system will be used to determine the distance between each applicant’s address point and the school’s address point. Faith Criteria If you are applying under criterion 2 or 3 you must provide a Certificate of Catholic Practice (CCP). This is available from your parish priest and must be returned to the school by 31 October 2025 for to be considered in the main admissions round. If you are applying under criterion 4 you must satisfy the definition of “Catholic” as outlined in OLICAT’s admission arrangements and this would normally be evidenced by a certificate of baptism in a Catholic Church or a certificate of reception into the full communion of the Catholic Church. A copy of either of these documents must be supplied directly to the school by 31 October 2025 to be considered in the main admissions round. If you are applying under criterion 8 or 9 you must complete a Supplementary Information Form (SIF) signed by your faith leader. The SIF is available from the school and must be completed and returned to the school by 31 October 2025 to be considered in the main admissions round. Please note these documents are required in addition to submitting a common application form for a school place and submission on their own does not constitute an application. For more information on the definitions used above and in the oversubscription criteria, please view the school’s admission arrangements which are published on the school’s website. Brother or sister This includes all natural brothers or sisters, half brothers or sisters, adopted brothers or sisters, stepbrothers or sisters, foster brothers or sisters, whether or not they are living at the same address; and the child of a parent’s partner where that child for whom the school place is sought lives for at least part of the week in the same family unit at the same home address as the child who is the subject of the application.

Important: Additional documentation is required by the school if you would like your child to be considered under any of the Faith criteria (2, 3, 4, 8 or 9). Please see details below and ensure appropriate documentation is returned to the school by 31 October 2025 to be considered in the main admissions round.
