was the furthest place offered for 2026-27 (Year 7) — but among children who had already met the entrance standard. Entry here depends on the assessment first; distance only separates candidates who qualify. Living inside that distance is not enough on its own, and living beyond it is not necessarily a bar.
Last distance offered at Altrincham Grammar School for Girls, year by year →
When there are more applications than places for 2027-28 (Year 7), places are offered in this order of priority. Meeting a higher criterion beats meeting a lower one.
If two applications tie: In the unlikely event of a tie-breaker situation, the applicant will be chosen by random allocation. A representative of the applicant will be invited to observe the procedure which would be supervised by a person independent of the school.
PAN for Year 7 is 204; Year 12 (Sixth Form) minimum of at least 5 places for external applicants, with priority given to existing pupils of the school. Catchment area defined as an 8-mile radius from the school's main entrance.
Published by the admission authority. Meeting a criterion never guarantees a place — it sets the order places are offered in. Full detail, other entry points and previous years are on the Admissions tab.
