When there are more applications than places for 2027-28 (Year 7), places are offered in this order of priority. Meeting a higher criterion beats meeting a lower one.
If two applications tie: Where there are more applications than places remaining in any oversubscription category, priority is determined by the distance between the child's home address and the Academy, with those living nearest given highest priority — the shortest straight line from home to the nearest entrance gate of the Academy, measured by Thurrock Council's digital mapping system. Multi-dwelling buildings are measured from the same point within the building. Where two or more children live an equal distance (including the same multi-dwelling building), the order is determined by random allocation supervised by someone independent of the Academy.
Children with an EHC plan naming the Academy are admitted before all other children in the normal admission round (reducing places left within the PAN); at other times they are admitted even where this means exceeding the PAN. The Academy has a Specialist Resourced Provision (SRP) of up to 20 places for speech/language/ASD needs, not included within the PAN. For Years 7-11, a twin/triplet/higher-multiple-birth sibling of a child who gains a place within the PAN is admitted even if this exceeds the PAN.
