Oxted School

When there are more applications than places for 2027-28 (Year 7), places are offered in this order of priority. Meeting a higher criterion beats meeting a lower one.

1. 1Looked after and previously looked after children — Children who are in the care of a local authority (LAC) or provided with accommodation by a local authority in accordance with Section 22 of the Children Act 1989, e.g. fostered or living in a children's home, at the time an application for a school is made; and children who have previously been in the care of a local authority (PLAC) or provided with accommodation by a local authority in accordance with Section 22 of the Children Act 1989 and who have left that care through adoption, a child arrangements order or special guardianship order; and children who were previously in state care outside of England and have ceased to be in state care as a result of being adopted (IAPLAC).
2. 2Children with an exceptional social/medical need — Occasionally there will be a very small number of children whose parents believe their child needs to attend this school due to exceptional social and/or medical circumstances. Supporting evidence from a professional is required. This evidence must confirm the circumstances of the case and must set out why the child should attend this school and why no other school could meet the child's needs.
3. 3Children with siblings at the school — A sibling will be considered to be a brother or sister (that is, another child of the same parents), a half-brother or half-sister, a step-brother or step-sister or an adoptive or foster sibling living as part of the same family unit at the same address. For a child to be considered under a sibling criterion, their sibling must be on roll at the school at the time of the application and expected to still be on roll at the point the child is due to start.
4. 4Children in the catchment area attending a named feeder school — Children who live in the catchment area (see Note 4) and who attend one of the following feeder schools (see Note 5): Bletchingley Village Primary, Crockham Hill CofE Primary (Kent), Dormansland Primary, Godstone Village, Holland Junior, Lingfield Primary, St John's CofE Primary, St Mary's Church of England Primary School, St Stephen's CofE Primary, Tatsfield Primary, Woodlea School.
5. 5Children in the catchment area not attending a named feeder school — Children who live in the catchment area (see Note 4) who do not attend one of the feeder schools named above.
6. 6All other children for whom Oxted is the nearest school — All other children, for whom Oxted is the nearest school (see Note 6 and 7). The nearest school is considered to be the school closest to the home address with a published admission number for children of the appropriate age-range. The school could be inside or outside of Surrey.
7. 7All other children — All other children.

If two applications tie: Priority will be given to children who live closest to the school. Home to school distances are measured in a straight line from the address point of the child's home, as set by Ordnance Survey, to the nearest school gate for students to use. Where two or more children are deemed to be equidistant, random allocation will be used to determine priority.

Feeder school priority only applies up until 31 August 2027; those remaining on a waiting list after this point will be re-ranked according to the next highest applicable criterion. In the case of multiple births with equal priority, all children from that multiple birth will be offered a place even if above PAN.
