When there are more applications than places for 2027-28 (Year 7), places are offered in this order of priority. Meeting a higher criterion beats meeting a lower one.

1. 1Looked after and previously looked after children — Children looked after by a Local Authority (in line with section 22 of the Children Act) and all previously looked after children who are now adopted or subject to a residence order or a special guardianship order, including those children who appear (to the admission authority) to have been in state care outside of England and ceased to be in state care as a result of being adopted.
2. 2Exceptional social or medical reasons — Children whose exceptional social or medical reasons can only be met by Arden.
3. 3Catchment with sibling at school — Children who normally live in the catchment area of the school who have an older brother or sister in Year 7-13 at the school at the time of offer.
4. 4Catchment and named feeder primary school — Children who normally live in the catchment area of the school and attend Dorridge Junior School, Knowle CE Primary School, Bentley Heath CE Primary School or St George and St Teresa Catholic Primary School at the time of application
5. 5Catchment, nearest distance — Children who normally live in the catchment area of the school with priority being given if necessary to those living nearest to the school as measured in a straight line from home to school.
6. 6Children of staff — Children of staff who are permanently employed at Arden Academy at the time of application (see Note 2)
7. 7Outside catchment, sibling and named feeder — Children who live outside the catchment area who have an older brother or sister in Year 7-13 at the school at the time of offer and who attend Dorridge Junior School, Knowle CE Primary School, Bentley Heath CE Primary School or St George and St Teresa Catholic Primary School at the time of application
8. 8Outside catchment, sibling, nearest distance — Children who live outside the catchment area who have an older brother or sister in Year 7-13 at the school at the time of offer with priority given to those living nearest to the school as measured in a straight line from home to school
9. 9Outside catchment, named feeder school — Children who live outside the catchment area and attend Dorridge Junior School, Knowle CE Primary School, Bentley Heath CE Primary School or St George and St Teresa Catholic Primary School at the time of application.
10. 10Outside catchment, nearest distance — Children who live outside the catchment area with priority being given to those living nearest to the school as measured in a straight line from home to school.

If two applications tie: If two or more applicants share the same distance to Arden and a place is available, the place offered will be determined by random selection. This is carried out independently of the admissions authority or overseen by an independent verifier.

Children with an Education, Health and Care Plan that name Arden will be offered a place first; this reduces the number of places available (Note 1). Staff priority conditions detailed in Note 2. Sixth Form (Year 12) has separate oversubscription criteria not fully captured here as it is a different entry point.
