Wingfield Academy

When there are more applications than places for 2027-28 (Year 7), places are offered in this order of priority. Meeting a higher criterion beats meeting a lower one.

1. 1Looked after Children and previously Looked after Children — Looked after Children and previously Looked after Children. (see note (d) for definition, below)
2. 2Catchment area with older sibling (Years 8-13) — Children who, on 31 October of 2026, live in the catchment area of the school and it is expected will have an older sibling on roll in Years 8-13 at the start of the academic year in which they start the school.
3. 3Catchment area — Children who, on 31 October of 2026, live in the catchment area of the school.
4. 4Older sibling on roll (Years 8-13) — A child who, on 31st October of 2026 it is expected will have an older sibling on the roll of the school in Years 8-13 at the start of the academic year in which they start the school.
5. 5On roll of associated primary school — Children who, on 31 October of 2026, are on the roll of one of the associated primary schools. See Page 23 of this Booklet for further information.
6. 6Children of staff — Children of staff at the school meeting the following criteria: The member of staff has been employed at the school for two or more years at the time at which the application for admission to the school is made; and/or the member of staff is recruited to fill a vacant post at the school for which there is a demonstrable skill shortage.
7. 7Distance (nearest) — Children who, on 31st October of 2026, live nearest to the school measured by a straight line on a horizontal plane, (commonly known as measurement 'as the crow flies').

If two applications tie: Where the admission number for the school is likely to be reached mid category, priority will be given to those children who, on 31 October 2026, live nearest to the school measured by a straight line on a horizontal plane. In the event of distances being the same for two or more children where this would determine the last place to be allocated, random allocation will be carried out and supervised by a person independent of the Admission Authority.

Children with an EHCP naming the school are admitted before these criteria are applied. Wingfield Academy does not have sixth form provision noted in the sixth-form section of this document.
