High Greave Infant School

When there are more applications than places for 2027-28 (Reception), places are offered in this order of priority. Meeting a higher criterion beats meeting a lower one.

1. 1Looked after / previously looked after children — Relevant Looked After Children and previously Looked After Children (see note (a) below).
2. 2Medical reason — Children who, on 15th January 2027, have a specific medical reason, confirmed by a medical practitioner, which the Admission Authority is satisfied makes attendance at the preferred school essential. Parents should ensure that they provide full supporting information to be considered along with their application.
3. 3Compelling social reason — Children who, on 15th January 2027, have a compelling social reason which the Admission Authority is satisfied makes attendance at the preferred school essential. The kind of overriding social reasons which could be accepted are where there is evidence that the child’s education would be seriously impaired if he or she did not attend the preferred school. Parents should ensure that they provide full supporting information to be considered along with their application.
4. 5Catchment + sibling — Children who, on 15th January 2027, live in the catchment area of this school as defined by the Admission Authority (advised by the Local Authority) and it is expected will have an older brother or sister on the roll of this school in Years 1-6 (or its associated Junior School in Years 3-6) at the start of the academic year 2027 (see notes (b) and (c) below)
5. 6Catchment area — Children who, on 15th January 2027, live in the catchment area of the school as defined by the Admission Authority (advised by the Local Authority) (see note (b) below)
6. 7Sibling (non-catchment) — Children who, on the 15th January 2027, it is expected will have an older brother or sister on the roll of the preferred school (or its associated junior school) in Years 1-6 at the start of the academic year 2027 (see notes (c) and (d) below)
7. 8Nearest distance — Children who, on the specified closing date for Primary admissions, live nearest to the school measured by a straight line on a horizontal plane, (commonly known as the measurement “as the crow flies”).

Criterion 4 in the published list ('in attendance in Year 2 at an associated Infant School') is explicitly marked '(Junior schools only)' and therefore does not apply to High Greave Infant School; it has been omitted here, leaving the original numbering gap. The same criteria are also published for Catcliffe Primary School and High Greave Junior School under a shared Learner Trust policy.

Published by the admission authority. Meeting a criterion never guarantees a place — it sets the order places are offered in. Full detail, other entry points and previous years are on the Admissions tab.
