Ashby School

When there are more applications than places for 2027-28 (Year 7), places are offered in this order of priority. Meeting a higher criterion beats meeting a lower one.

1. 1Looked after / previously looked after children — Children who are looked after and those children who were previously looked after children. (see Note I)
2. 2Siblings — Children with siblings at the school. A child who will have a brother or sister on roll at the school at the time either at the point of admission or when an application is made for the child to attend the school. This would apply both at the initial allocation of places and also when prioritising the waiting list. (see Note III)
3. 3Children of Trust staff — Children of staff (i.e. people employed on a permanent contract in any capacity) at LiFE Multi Academy Trust: a. where the member of staff has been employed at the Trust for two or more years at the time at which the application for admission to the school is made and/or b. the member of staff is recruited to fill a vacant post for which there is a demonstrable skill shortage.
4. 4Feeder primary school pupils — Pupils who are attending a feeder primary school at the point of application. A list of the current feeder primary schools is shown below – Albert Village Community Primary School, Appleby Magna Church of England Primary School, Ashby-De-La-Zouch Woodcote Primary School, Ashby-De-La-Zouch Church of England Primary School, Ashby Hastings Primary School, Ashby Hill Top Primary School, Ashby Willesley Primary School, Blackford by St Margarets Church of England Primary School, Coelorton Viscount Beaumont Primary School, Donisthorpe Primary School, Ellistown Community Primary School, Griffydam Primary School, Heather Primary School, Ibstock Junior School, Measham Church of England Primary School, St Charles Catholic Primary Voluntary Academy Measham, Moira Primary School, Oakthorpe Primary School, Worthington School, Nailstone Dove Bank Primary School, Newbold Church of England Primary School, Newton Burgoland Primary School, Packington Church of England Primary School, Snarestone Church of England Primary School, Woodstone Community Primary School, St Hardulphs in Breedon on the Hill
5. 5Medical/social/domestic needs — Pupils who have a serious medical condition or exceptional social or domestic needs that make it essential they attend the school requested. (Professional documentation confirming the situation must be submitted with the application.) (see Note IV)
6. 6Distance from school — Distance from school. The place of residence is determined to be the address of the parent or carer with whom the child spends the majority of time as a child of a family during term-time. (see Note VI)

If two applications tie: Ashby, Ibstock and Ivanhoe – where the number of applications exceeds the number of places available, children will be put in priority order by using a combination of the highest criteria and distance (see the relevant Appendices). Distances are measured in a straight line from the centre point of the property to the school's main designated front gate, using an electronic mapping tool – Geo-coded Mapping System.

Appendix 11 lists a PAN of 232 for Ashby, but this table is explicitly headed 'PAN 2026 - 2027', not the 2027 entry year covered by the oversubscription criteria, so it is not included as the confirmed PAN for this cohort.

Published by the admission authority. Meeting a criterion never guarantees a place — it sets the order places are offered in. Full detail, other entry points and previous years are on the Admissions tab.
