Bosworth Academy

When there are more applications than places for 2027-28 (Year 7), places are offered in this order of priority. Meeting a higher criterion beats meeting a lower one.

1. 1Looked after / previously looked after children — Children who are looked after and those children who were previously looked after children. (see Note I)
2. 2Siblings — Children with siblings at the school. A child who will have a brother or sister on roll at the school at the time either at the point of admission or when an application is made for the child to attend the school. This would apply both at the initial allocation of places and also when prioritising the waiting list. (see Note III)
3. 3Children of Trust staff — Children of staff (i.e. people employed on a permanent contract in any capacity) at LiFE Multi Academy Trust: a. where the member of staff has been employed at the Trust for two or more years at the time at which the application for admission to the school is made and/or b. the member of staff is recruited to fill a vacant post for which there is a demonstrable skill shortage.
4. 4Local LiFE MAT primary school pupils — Children who attend the local LiFE MAT Primary School – Kingsway and Desford (Note V)
5. 5Feeder primary school pupils — Children who attend one of the feeder Primary Schools – Desford, Newbold Verdon, Barlestone, Stafford Leys, Fossebrook, Kingsway, Ravenhurst, Millfield, New Lubbesthorpe Primary School
6. 6Medical/social/domestic needs — Pupils who have a serious medical condition or exceptional social or domestic needs that make it essential they attend the school requested. (Professional documentation confirming the situation must be submitted with the application.) (see Note IV)
7. 7Distance from school — Distance from school. The place of residence is determined to be the address of the parent or carer with whom the child spends the majority of time as a child of a family during term-time. (see Note VI)

If two applications tie: Bosworth, Braunstone Frith, Countesthorpe, Desford, Dove Bank, Kingsway, The Winstanley School - if having applied the priority criteria, two or more applications have identical ranking lots will be drawn. The drawing of lots will be undertaken by an independent person, not an employee or governor of the school.

Appendix 11 lists a PAN of 250 for Bosworth, but this table is explicitly headed 'PAN 2026 - 2027', not the 2027 entry year covered by the oversubscription criteria, so it is not included as the confirmed PAN for this cohort.

Published by the admission authority. Meeting a criterion never guarantees a place — it sets the order places are offered in. Full detail, other entry points and previous years are on the Admissions tab.
