When there are more applications than places for 2027-28 (Year 7), places are offered in this order of priority. Meeting a higher criterion beats meeting a lower one.
If two applications tie: If the academy is oversubscribed and a tie-breaker is needed within any of criteria 1-5, the distance criterion (criterion 5) is used. In the unlikely event that two or more students have equal eligibility for the last available place in every other way, names are issued a number and drawn randomly, overseen by someone independent of the academy trust.
Criterion 5 (distance) doubles as its own priority category AND the ranking method within criteria 1-4: 'Applicants eligible under criteria 1-5 are each ranked in order of the distance of the child's home to the academy.' Where more than one applicant lives in a multi-occupancy building, ties are resolved by random allocation. Where siblings from a multiple birth would otherwise be split by the PAN, all are offered a place even if this exceeds the PAN. Children with an EHCP naming the academy are admitted before these criteria are applied (not itself a numbered criterion).
