When there are more applications than places for 2027-28 (Year 7), places are offered in this order of priority. Meeting a higher criterion beats meeting a lower one.
If two applications tie: For day places, in the event of a tie, priority is given to children living the closest distance to the College using Hertfordshire County Council's computerised mapping system; if distances are identical, the tie break is random and independently verified. For boarding places, ties are resolved by random ballot.
PAN comprises 68 day places and 52 boarding places (total 120) for Year 7 entry. A separate ordered oversubscription criteria list applies to Boarding applicants (suitability for boarding assessed first): 1) Looked after/previously looked after children; 2) Children of UK Armed Forces qualifying for MOD boarding assistance; 3) Significant degree of boarding need (assessed by Governors' Admissions Panel); 4) Siblings as boarding students; 5) Random allocation if places remain. The College also publishes separate Sixth Form (Year 12) admissions arrangements with a PAN of 60 external students, minimum academic entry requirements (44 points across best 8 GCSEs, Grade 4+ English and Maths), and its own oversubscription criteria for Sixth Form day (1. Looked after/previously looked after; 2. Siblings; 3. Children of staff) and Sixth Form boarding (1. Looked after/previously looked after; 2. Armed Forces children; 3. Boarding need; 4. Siblings; then random allocation). EHCP-named children are admitted before oversubscription criteria are applied, in line with statutory requirements.
Published by the admission authority. Meeting a criterion never guarantees a place — it sets the order places are offered in. Full detail, other entry points and previous years are on the Admissions tab.
