Distance depends on the band here
Leigh Academy Halley admits by banding: applicants are placed into bands and each band is filled separately, so there is no single last-offer distance. Each band has its own, and which one applies depends on your child's assessment — so one number could not answer this for every child.
How the bands work: Those applicants who have undertaken the fair banding test will then be split into 5 equally sized bands, based on the results of the fair banding test... If there is one extra applicant when the number of applicants is divided by five there will be an additional applicant placed in Band 2; If there are two extra applicants, there will be one additional applicant placed in Band 3 and one in Band 4; If there are three extra applicants there will be one additional applicant placed in Band 5, one in Band 1 and one in Band 2; If there are four extra applicants there will be one additional applicant placed in Bands 2, 3, 4 and 5 respectively. If when the groups are split there are two children who have scored the same in the test, the academy priority criteria will be used to identify which child would go in which band.
Your local authority’s admissions booklet publishes the cut-off for each band. The full ranked criteria are on the Admissions tab.
When there are more applications than places for 2027-28 (Year 7), places are offered in this order of priority. Meeting a higher criterion beats meeting a lower one.
If two applications tie: If the academy is oversubscribed and it is therefore necessary to use a tie-breaker to distinguish between two or more applications in any of the criteria 1-6 above a distance criterion will be used as above in criterion 5. In the unlikely event that two or more students in all other ways have equal eligibility for the last available place at the academy, the names will be issued a number and drawn randomly to decide which child should be given the place.
Before application of the oversubscription criteria, students with an EHCP naming Leigh Academy Halley are admitted first and the PAN is reduced accordingly. Priority is applied within each fair-banding band, using ranked criteria 1-6.
Published by the admission authority. Meeting a criterion never guarantees a place — it sets the order places are offered in. Full detail, other entry points and previous years are on the Admissions tab.
