When there are more applications than places for 2027-28 (Year 7), places are offered in this order of priority. Meeting a higher criterion beats meeting a lower one.
If two applications tie: Where pupils have equal (identical standardised) scores competing for the last available place: preference first to 'looked after'/'previously looked after'/'internationally adopted previously looked after' children, then to those in receipt of Pupil Premium (evidence required); if still tied, preference to the pupil(s) living closest to the school by straight-line measurement (Post Office/Ordnance Survey address points, miles to three decimal places); if distance is still identical, the place is offered by lots drawn by an independent person.
Places are first offered to students for whom the school is named on their EHCP (stated ahead of the test-based allocation, not itself a numbered/lettered criterion). "Priority Area" = continuously resident (permanent home address and that of primary carer) within 12.5 miles of the school since 10 October in Year 6 through to the start of Year 7; UK service personnel with a confirmed posting into the area, and Crown servants returning from overseas, are treated as meeting residency in advance. If a placed pupil drops out before the start of the academic year, they are replaced by the next-ranked pupil in the same category (Priority Area or non-Priority-Area). A waiting list of remaining test-takers is held for one year after admission to Year 7. Separately, "casual" in-year entry to Years 8-11 uses the school's OWN internal tests (not the CSSE 11+, and not aiming to replicate it); short-listed applicants are rank-ordered and places awarded in that order if space allows; ties are resolved by looked-after/previously-looked-after children, then Pupil Premium, then siblings, then straight-line distance - this in-year process is not represented as a separate point-of-entry entry here since it has no fixed PAN or normal-round oversubscription list.
Published by the admission authority. Meeting a criterion never guarantees a place — it sets the order places are offered in. Full detail, other entry points and previous years are on the Admissions tab.
