When there are more applications than places for 2027-28 (Year 7), places are offered in this order of priority. Meeting a higher criterion beats meeting a lower one.
If two applications tie: Where there is a tie for the last available place due to identical standardised aggregate test scores, preference is given first to the applicant living closest to the School by straight-line electronic measurement to the permanent home address. In the unlikely event two applicants have an identical distance, the place is offered on the basis of lots drawn by an independent person.
Priority area = a 12.5-mile straight-line radius of the School. Criterion 2 (EHCP holders who also achieve an eligible score) is explicitly numbered by the school in its own oversubscription list, unlike the usual statutory 'admitted ahead of the list' EHCP treatment described in other schools' policies. Recent-experience figures given (not a guarantee for this cohort): of 1,225 girls who sat the test in 2024 for September 2025 entry, 586 named CCHS as a preference; 7 appeals were heard, none successful. In-year admissions to Years 8-11 use a different process: a school-set test (not replicating the Year 7 Entrance Test) to establish whether the applicant can sustain the year group's pace; the highest scorer is offered the place; where the last two candidates can't be separated academically, preference goes first to a Looked After/Previously Looked After child, then a Pupil Premium child, then straight-line distance, then lots.
