Enfield County School for Girls

When there are more applications than places for 2027-28 (Year 7), places are offered in this order of priority. Meeting a higher criterion beats meeting a lower one.

1. 1Looked after / previously looked after children — A looked after child or a child who was previously looked after but immediately after being looked after became subject to an adoption, child arrangement or special guardianship order including those who appear (to the admission authority) to have been in state care outside of England and ceased to be in state care as a result of being adopted. A looked after child is a child who is (a) in the care of a local authority. or (b) being provided with accommodation by a local authority in the exercise of their social services function (see the definition in Section 21 (1) of the Children Act 1989).*
2. 2Exceptional medical grounds — Children for whom a particular school is appropriate on exceptional medical grounds. Such applications will be considered under this criterion only if they are supported by an attached written statement from a doctor. This must demonstrate that there is a very specific connection between the child's medical need and the school requested.
3. 3Siblings — Children with a brother or sister (sibling) who will be attending the school at the time of proposed admission. The children concerned must be living at the same address.
4. 4Staff children — Children whose parent is a member of staff who has been employed at the school concerned for two or more years at the time of application and/or children of a member of staff who has been recruited to fill a vacancy for which there is a demonstrable skill shortage.
5. 5Designated priority zone — Children genuinely resident within the school's designated priority zone. This criterion only applies to Chace Community School (see details of the roads concerned below).
6. 6Distance — Children living nearest to the school measured 'as the crow flies', that is, in a straight line from the child's home to the main entrance of the school. (Travel by private car or public transport is not taken into account).

If two applications tie: When it is not possible to admit all applicants to a particular school within any criterion, priority will be given to those living closest to the school measured as in criterion 6 above.

Local-authority coordinated default oversubscription criteria for Enfield Council's community and voluntary-controlled schools (the council is the admission authority). Some community/voluntary-controlled schools in this authority apply catchment-area, feeder-school or priority-area variants — check the individual school for its exact arrangements. This default criteria list applies to Chace Community School, Enfield County School for Girls, Highlands School and Winchmore School. Enfield County School for Girls additionally uses a quota area system dividing places among geographic zones, with the standard criteria applied within each quota. Chace Community School has a designated priority zone (criterion 5) not applicable to the other three schools. Academy, voluntary aided and foundation schools in Enfield (e.g. Ark John Keats, Bishop Stopford's, St Anne's, St Ignatius, The Latymer, and many academies) set their own separate admissions criteria, which are not the council's default community school arrangements.

Published by the admission authority. Meeting a criterion never guarantees a place — it sets the order places are offered in. Full detail, other entry points and previous years are on the Admissions tab.
