When there are more applications than places for 2027-28 (Year 7), places are offered in this order of priority. Meeting a higher criterion beats meeting a lower one.
If two applications tie: In the event of oversubscription within any criterion allocation of places will be decided on distance measurements supplied by the Local Authority. Priority will be given to children who live nearest to the school. (See below) Derbyshire Distance will be measured using a Geographic Information System (GIS) to measure the straight- line distance. It is measured by a standard straight-line distance calculated to within two metres. This measurement is taken from the postal address file, normally the house front door. For schools the grid reference is taken from the postal address file and will normally be the centre of the school for primary phase schools. Derby City Distance is measured from home to school by straight line using national Ordnance Survey Set Points. Staffordshire The local authority uses a geographical information system (GIS) to calculate home to school distances in miles. The measurement is calculated using Ordnance Survey (OS) data from an applicant's home address to the main front gate of the school. The coordinates of an applicant's home address are determined and provided by the Local Land and Property Gazetteer (LLPG) and OS address point data. In a very few cases, it may not be possible to decide between the applications of those pupils who are the final qualifiers for a place (e.g. children who live at the same address or have the same distance measurement). In this exceptional situation the governors will admit the additional child above the Planned Admission Number.
Read 2026-09-12 from the trust's own website (SRS-CMAT-Secondary-Admissions-Policy-2027-28-determined.pdf), marked determined. The trust is the admission authority for every academy in it and publishes one secondary policy with a schedule of schools, admission numbers and the parishes each serves. CORRECTION 2026-09-13: this row was written on 12 September with the right admission number, notes and source but an empty rule list — every rule came out blank. The rules below were re-read from the same published document. The rules were re-read from the same policy this row already cites, anchored on the document's own "Oversubscription criteria" heading.
Published by the admission authority. Meeting a criterion never guarantees a place — it sets the order places are offered in. Full detail, other entry points and previous years are on the Admissions tab.
