Beulah Infants' School

When there are more applications than places for 2027-28 (Reception), places are offered in this order of priority. Meeting a higher criterion beats meeting a lower one.

1. 1Looked After Children or previously Looked After Children — Including those children who appear (to the admission authority) to have been in state care outside of England and ceased to be in state care as a result of being adopted. Looked after children are children in public care at the date on which the application is made; an application must be supported by a letter from the relevant Local Authority Children's Services Department. Previously looked after children ceased to be looked after because they were adopted or subject to a child arrangements order or a special guardianship order, including those from care outside England.
2. 2Infant to junior transfer — Where applicable, priority in the allocation of Year 3 places for children transferring from infant to junior school will be given to those children in attendance at the attached infant school. This applies only at Beulah Infant School and Whitehorse Manor Infant School.
3. 3Siblings — Children with a brother or sister who will be in attendance at the school or attached Infant or Junior School at the time of enrolment of the new pupil. A sibling is a brother or sister, half brother or sister, step brother or sister, foster brother or sister or adopted brother or sister whose main residence is at the same address.
4. 4Medical — Pupils with serious medical reasons for needing to attend a particular school within the Trust. A serious medical condition of a parent which would prevent them taking their child to school may also be relevant. Medical reasons must be verified by a doctor or consultant and declared at the time of application; decisions are made on the recommendation of the Trust's nominated medical advisor. The medical needs of the parent are only taken into account where the school is the nearest school to the child's home.
5. 5Children of staff at the school — Any teaching or non-teaching member of staff employed by PAT who has been employed for a continuous period of two years prior to the application date, or a member of staff employed by PAT to fill a vacant position for which there is a demonstrable skill shortage.
6. 6Distance — Priority given to pupils living nearest to the school as measured in a straight line from the child's home address to the designated entrance(s) of the school using a computerised measuring system (GIS) and geographical reference points provided by the National Land and Property Gazetteer (NLPG). For shared properties such as flats, the geographical references determine the start point within the property boundaries.

If two applications tie: Distance is used as a tiebreaker for each oversubscription criterion. Where distance is the same for pupils, the ultimate tiebreaker is drawing lots. Where a parent applies for entry into the same year group for more than one child (twins/triplets or other multiple births) and there are not enough places for all, provided there is a place for at least one sibling the remaining siblings will also be offered places.

Pegasus Academy Trust common admissions policy covering six schools; the document states there are 60 places available in each year group at Beulah Infant School. Criterion 2 (infant to junior transfer) applies to Year 3 entry at the attached junior school, not to Reception. Children attending the nursery class must still apply and are not guaranteed a Reception place. Waiting lists maintained for one academic year.
