Shipley CofE Primary School

When there are more applications than places for 2027-28 (Reception), places are offered in this order of priority. Meeting a higher criterion beats meeting a lower one.

1. 1Church Proportion - Looked after/previously looked after (Christian guardians) — Looked after children or children who were previously looked after but ceased to be so because they were adopted or became subject to a residence or special guardianship order whose guardian(s)/carer(s) are practising members of the Church of England or other Christian churches.
2. 2Church Proportion - Sibling — The child has a brother or sister (including stepbrother/sister living at the same address) already attending the school who will continue at the school in the year for which the applicant is applying.
3. 3Church Proportion - Local parish involvement — Family and/or child involvement in the work and worship of the parishes local to the school.
4. 4Church Proportion - Other CofE parishes without a church school — Family and/or child involvement in the work and worship of other Church of England Parishes which have no Church School and for whom this is the nearest Church of England Primary School.
5. 5Church Proportion - Other Christian congregations — Family and/or child involvement in the work and worship of congregations of any other Christian Church for whom this is the nearest Church of England Primary School.
6. 6Church Proportion - Baptised/dedicated children — Children who have been baptised or dedicated within a Christian Church and for whom this is the nearest Church of England Primary School.
7. 1Non-Church Proportion - Looked after/previously looked after — Looked after children or children who were previously looked after but ceased to be so because they were adopted or became subject to a residence or special guardianship order.
8. 2Non-Church Proportion - Sibling — The child has a brother or sister (including stepbrother/sister living at the same address) already attending the school who will continue at the school in the year for which the applicant is applying.
9. 3Non-Church Proportion - Nearest home address — Those children whose permanent home address is nearest to the school. (Nearest means a direct line between the child's permanent home address and the main entrance of the school building, as defined by the computer software used by Bradford Education)

If two applications tie: When demand exceeds places in any of the following policies, the distance between the child's home and school, measured by a straight line distance from the Ordnance Survey address point of the home to the main entrance to the school building, will be used to decide who is given a place; those living nearest being given the available places. Where the offer of places to applicants with equi-distant addresses would lead to oversubscription, the decision of who will be offered the place will be made by random selection.

Admissions are divided into two proportions: the Church Proportion (50%, 15 children) with its own priority order of 6 criteria, and the Non-Church Proportion (50%, 15 children) with its own priority order of 3 criteria. Any places not allocated within the Non-Church Proportion are added to the Church Proportion. 'Regular worshipper' is defined as attendance at least once a month for at least two years prior to application, verified by a member of the clergy, via a Supplementary Information Form (SIF) due by midnight 13th January 2027.

Published by the admission authority. Meeting a criterion never guarantees a place — it sets the order places are offered in. Full detail, other entry points and previous years are on the Admissions tab.
