King Edward VI School

When there are more applications than places for 2027-28 (Year 7), places are offered in this order of priority. Meeting a higher criterion beats meeting a lower one.

1. 1Children with EHC Plan naming the school — Children with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHC) that name the School will be admitted first, subject to them achieving above the Required Minimum Academic Standard for this School for this particular year of entry.
2. 2Category 1: Looked-After or Previously Looked-After Children — Any Looked-After or Previously Looked-After Children who achieve the Automatic Qualifying Score or above for this School for this particular year of entry, or who score up to 20 marks below the Automatic Qualifying Score. If the difference between the Automatic Qualifying Score and the Required Minimum Academic Standard is more than 20 marks, any Looked-After or Previously Looked-After Children who reached the Required Minimum Academic Standard would be admitted.
3. 3Category 2: Pupil Premium (Free School Meals) within outer priority circle — Children who live within the outer priority circle (including those living in the inner priority circle) who attract the Pupil Premium via eligibility for Free School Meals who achieve either the Automatic Qualifying Score or above for this School, for this particular year of entry, or who score up to 20 marks below the Automatic Qualifying Score. Up to thirteen places only will be offered in this category (including any re-offers which are made from the waiting list in this category after 1st March 2027).
4. 4Category 3: Inner priority circle at or above Automatic Qualifying Score — Up to 70 places will be allocated to children who live within the inner priority circle who achieve the Automatic Qualifying Score or above for this School, for this particular year of entry.
5. 5Category 4: Outer priority circle (including inner) at or above Automatic Qualifying Score — Children who live within the outer priority circle (including those living in the inner priority circle) who achieve the Automatic Qualifying Score or above for this School, for this particular year of entry.
6. 6Category 5: Outside outer priority circle at or above Automatic Qualifying Score — Children living outside of the outer priority circle who achieve the Automatic Qualifying Score or above for this School, for this particular year of entry.
7. 7Category 6: Below Automatic Qualifying Score but above Required Minimum Academic Standard — Children who score below the Automatic Qualifying Score, but above the Required Minimum Academic Standard for the waiting list for this School, for this particular year of entry.

If two applications tie: Those with the highest scores in each category will be given highest priority for a place. To differentiate in the case of children with the same score in any of the following categories, those who live nearest the School in straight-line distance will be given priority. In the case of a tie-break situation where more than one child has achieved the same score, and where all home to school distances are equal, and there are not enough spaces to offer all applicants who fulfil the relevant criteria, the remaining place(s) will be allocated using a computerised random number generator. This process will be carried out by Warwickshire Admissions on behalf of the School, in the presence of a witness from Legal Services who is independent of the School and the admissions process.
