Alcester Grammar School

When there are more applications than places for 2027-28 (Year 7), places are offered in this order of priority. Meeting a higher criterion beats meeting a lower one.

1. 1Looked-after or previously looked-after children meeting score thresholds — Looked-After or Previously Looked-After Children who either achieve the automatic qualifying score or above for this School for this particular year of entry, or who score up to 20 marks below the Automatic Qualifying Score. If the difference between the Automatic Qualifying Score and the Required Minimum Academic Standard is more than 20 marks, any Looked-After or Previously Looked After Children who reached the Required Minimum Academic Standard would be admitted.
2. 2Priority-area Pupil Premium/FSM children meeting score thresholds — Children who live within the priority circle who attract the Pupil Premium via eligibility for Free School Meals who achieve either the Automatic Qualifying Score or above for this School, for this particular year of entry, or who score up to 20 marks below the Automatic Qualifying Score. Up to twenty places only will be offered in categories 1 and 2 to students not meeting the Automatic Qualifying Score (including any re-offers which are made from the waiting list in this category after 1 March 2027).
3. 3Priority area children achieving automatic qualifying score or above — Children who live in the priority area who achieve the Automatic Qualifying Score or above for this school, for this particular year of entry.
4. 4Children outside priority area achieving automatic qualifying score or above — Children living outside of the priority area who achieve the Automatic Qualifying Score or above for this school, for this particular year of entry.
5. 5Children scoring below automatic qualifying score but above minimum academic standard — Children who score below the Automatic Qualifying Score, but above the required Minimum Academic Standard for the waiting list for this school, for this particular year of entry.

If two applications tie: Where children have the same score in any category, those who live nearest the school in a straight-line distance will be given highest priority. If distances are also equal, remaining places allocated by computerised random number generator carried out by Warwickshire Admissions in the presence of an independent witness from Legal Services.

Admission determined by performance in the Entrance Test (11+) plus oversubscription criteria. Children with an EHCP naming the school are admitted first, subject to achieving the required Minimum Academic Standard or above; this reduces places remaining for allocation under the categories above. Categories 1-5 relate to children whose 11+ registrations and applications were received on time. CATCHMENT: Priority Area: The priority area for Alcester Grammar School is based on a circle with a radius of 16.936 miles drawn from the Fountain in Rother Street, Stratford-upon-Avon to the County boundary south of Long Compton. Transcribed from the school's own determined admission arrangements as published by Warwickshire County Council school admissions directory. Children with an EHCP naming the school are admitted first; that is a statutory duty, not an oversubscription criterion.

Published by the admission authority. Meeting a criterion never guarantees a place — it sets the order places are offered in. Full detail, other entry points and previous years are on the Admissions tab.
