The Deanery CofE Academy

When there are more applications than places for 2027-28 (Year 7), places are offered in this order of priority. Meeting a higher criterion beats meeting a lower one.

1. 1Looked after / previously looked after children — A 'Looked After Child' or a child who was previously looked after. Previously looked after children are those who immediately after being in care became subject to an adoption order, child arrangements order or special guardianship order, including children who appear (to the admission authority) to have been in state care outside of England and ceased to be in state care as a result of being adopted.
2. 2Sibling at The Deanery CE Academy — Any child who has a sibling attending the Academy at the time of admission. The sibling can be in any year group at the Academy.
3. 3Sibling at Kingfisher CE Academy — Any child who attends Kingfisher CE Academy who has a sibling attending Kingfisher CE Academy at the time of admission. The sibling can be in any year group at Kingfisher CE Academy.
4. 4Children of staff — Any child of a member of staff based at The Deanery CE Academy and employed by The Park Academies Trust for two or more years at the time of application, and/or recruited to fill a vacant post where there is a demonstrable skill shortage (includes step children, foster children and children of cohabiting partners).
5. 5Attends Kingfisher CE Academy Year 6 — Any child who is attending Kingfisher CE Academy in Year 6 at the time of application.
6. 6Faith based — Remaining places will be allocated to Christian children prioritised in the following order: a) those who are 'at the heart of the church'; b) those who are 'attached to the church'. Established via Supplementary Information Form (Appendix 3).
7. 7Sibling attending Kingfisher CE Academy (non-attendee) — Any child that does not attend Kingfisher CE Academy that has a sibling attending Kingfisher CE Academy. The sibling can be in any year group.
8. 8All other children — All other children not falling into any of the categories above.

If two applications tie: In all cases where the Academy is oversubscribed, distance — measured as a straight line between the Local Land and Property Gazetteer point of the applicant's home address and the school, using the Local Authority's computerised system — will be used to prioritise applications within the over-subscription criteria. If direct distance does not separate applicants, places will be offered by random allocation.

Children with an EHCP naming The Deanery CE Academy are always admitted, but are admitted under separate statutory arrangements managed by the Local Authority and are not admitted under this policy's numbered criteria. In the case of multiple births, the Admissions Committee will admit all the children even if this exceeds the PAN. The Deanery CE Academy is an 11-18 Academy with a faith designation and Christian ethos, part of The Park Academies Trust; Kingfisher CE Academy is a linked primary academy in the same Trust.

Published by the admission authority. Meeting a criterion never guarantees a place — it sets the order places are offered in. Full detail, other entry points and previous years are on the Admissions tab.
