When there are more applications than places for 2027-28 (Reception), places are offered in this order of priority. Meeting a higher criterion beats meeting a lower one.

1. 1Children in state care / previously in care and adopted etc — Children in State Care and children who ceased to be in state care because they were adopted or became subject to a residence order or special guardianship order. This applies to children in these categories in England and also to children in these categories previously from outside of England.
2. 2Medical or exceptional circumstances plus hardship — Children who satisfy both of the following tests: Test 1: the child is distinguished from the great majority of other applicants either on their own medical grounds or by other exceptional circumstances... and Test 2: the child would suffer hardship if they were unable to attend the preferred school.
3. 3Sibling at the academy — Children who have an elder sibling in attendance at the preferred SUAT Academy and who will still be attending the SUAT Academy at the proposed admission date; (For admission purposes, a brother or sister is a child who lives at the same address and either: have one or both natural parents in common; are related by a parent’s marriage; are adopted or fostered by a common parent or are unrelated children who live at the same address, whose parents live as partners.)
4. 4Children of school employees — Children of employees in a school (where the employee has been employed at the school for two or more years at the time at which the application for admission is made to the school where the member of staff is recruited to fill a vacant post at the school for which there is a demonstrable skill shortage).
5. 5Nursery attendance with Early Years Pupil Premium — Children who attended the school-based nursery and who are in receipt of Early Years Pupil Premium Funding.
6. 6Catchment area — Children living within the catchment area of the preferred SUAT Academy.
7. 7Distance from home to school — Other children arranged in order of priority according to how near their home addresses are to the main gate of the Academy, determined by a straight-line measurement as calculated by Google maps or the Local Authority’s Geographical Information System (please see additional notes for further details).

If two applications tie: If there are a limited number of spaces available and we cannot distinguish between applicants using the criteria listed, such as in the case of children who live in the same block of flats, then the child or children who will be offered the available spaces will be randomly selected.

Note: this document also gives a separate VA Academy oversubscription list with faith criteria for schools formerly Voluntary Aided; it is unclear which list applies to Church Eaton specifically, so the general (non-VA) SUAT criteria list is used here.
