When there are more applications than places for 2027-28 (Year 9), places are offered in this order of priority. Meeting a higher criterion beats meeting a lower one.
The school must admit a child with an EHCP naming West Somerset College before any of the six numbered criteria are applied (stated separately, not itself numbered). Separately, and also before the oversubscription criteria are applied, all students on roll in Year 8 at the point of transfer have a 'protected place' and transfer automatically into the secondary phase (except EHCP pupils, admitted first) — this materially limits the places actually available under the numbered criteria below, though it is not itself one of the six numbered criteria. Sibling is defined as a child living at the same address as a half/full/adoptive brother or sister, or children of the same household. No explicit tie-break procedure (e.g. random allocation) is stated in this document for exact ties within a criterion or at equal distance.
Published by the admission authority. Meeting a criterion never guarantees a place — it sets the order places are offered in. Full detail, other entry points and previous years are on the Admissions tab.
Same phase, ranked by distance and how closely they match.
