When there are more applications than places for 2027-28 (Year 12), places are offered in this order of priority. Meeting a higher criterion beats meeting a lower one.
If two applications tie: If the PAN is reached part way through an oversubscription criterion, remaining applications satisfying that criterion are ranked by straight-line GIS distance between the geocoded point of the school site and the geocoded point of the pupil's home, shorter distance receiving higher priority. Where two or more distances are exactly equal, ranking is decided by the drawing of lots, supervised by a person entirely independent of the Wessex Learning Trust.
The PAN of 15 is for external applicants joining Year 12; it is in addition to Kings of Wessex Academy's own Year 11 students continuing into Year 12 (guaranteed a place if they meet the entrance requirements). Applications must be submitted by 4.30pm on 18 December 2026; decision letters to internal applicants by 25 March 2027 (provisional, subject to GCSE results); confirmation to external applicants after results in late August.
Published by the admission authority. Meeting a criterion never guarantees a place — it sets the order places are offered in. Full detail, other entry points and previous years are on the Admissions tab.
Same phase, ranked by distance and how closely they match.
