Wexham School

When there are more applications than places for 2027-28 (Year 7), places are offered in this order of priority. Meeting a higher criterion beats meeting a lower one.

1. 1Looked after / previously looked after children — A Looked after child (as defined in the Children Act 1989) or a child who was previously looked after and has left care under a Child arrangements order, special guardianship order or who was adopted; and those children who appear (to the admission authority) to have been in state care outside of England and ceased to be in care as a result of being adopted.
2. 2Exceptional Medical/Social need — Applicants whose child's medical or social circumstances require attendance at a particular school rather than any other school.
3. 3Sibling — Children who will have a brother or sister, including all blood half-, step-, adoptive and foster brothers and sisters of the child (not cousins) who live at the same home as the child on roll, at the Wexham School in September 2027. If the older child is year 11 or year 12 at the time of application, the Local Authority will ask the school whether it is expected that s/he will still be attending the school in September 2027.
4. 4Children of staff — children of any member of staff, regardless of role in the school where a. The member of staff has been employed at the school for two or more years at the time of application or b. The member of staff is recruited to fill a vacant post for which there is a demonstrable skill shortage.
5. 5Distance — Distance will be measured in a straight line using the co-ordinates from the National Property Gazetteer from the centre of the child's home address (including flats) to the school's main gate.

If two applications tie: If there is one place available and two or more children next in order of priority or next on the waiting list meet the appropriate criterion equally, the place will be allocated using the distance criterion. Distance will be measured in a straight line using the co-ordinates derived from the National London Property Gazetteer from the centre of the child's home address to the school's main gate. If the distances are equal, a place will be allocated by drawing lots in the presence of an independent witness.

Local-authority coordinated default oversubscription criteria for Slough Borough Council's community and voluntary-controlled schools (the council is the admission authority). Some community/voluntary-controlled schools in this authority apply catchment-area, feeder-school or priority-area variants — check the individual school for its exact arrangements. This is the ordered oversubscription criteria specifically for Wexham School, the only community secondary school in Slough for which the council is the admission authority. All other secondary schools listed (academies, voluntary aided, grammar, free schools) are their own admission authorities with separate published criteria (Section 9), not summarised in this document's default list.

Published by the admission authority. Meeting a criterion never guarantees a place — it sets the order places are offered in. Full detail, other entry points and previous years are on the Admissions tab.
