was the furthest place offered on offer day for 2026-27 (Year 7). That is how far the last place reached in ONE year — not a boundary, and not a guarantee. It moves with the number of applicants, so treat it as a guide rather than a line on a map.
Last distance offered at The Corbet School, year by year →
When there are more applications than places for 2027-28 (Year 7), places are offered in this order of priority. Meeting a higher criterion beats meeting a lower one.
If two applications tie: Where the admission number is reached and a decision has to be made to differentiate between children who fall into the same criteria groupings of Priorities 1 - 6 above, priority will be given to those children who live nearest to the school, measured as straight line distance on a computerised mapping system between the home address and the nearest entrance gate of the relevant school. In the event that two individual applications are exactly the same after all other criteria have been taken into account, a tie breaker will be used by random allocation overseen by an independent party. In the case of twins or triplets from the same address the school will endeavour to admit both or all siblings.
Children with an Education and Health Care Plan (EHCP) which names The Corbet School will be allocated places before oversubscription criteria are applied. A separate exceptional-circumstances medical criterion may elevate a child above Priorities 2-6 in very exceptional circumstances, subject to medical evidence. Out-of-cohort admission requests are considered per the described process. CATCHMENT: Children living within the attendance area, (as defined by Shropshire Council Local Authority) Transcribed from the school's own determined admission arrangements as published by Shropshire Council. Children with an EHCP naming the school are admitted first; that is a statutory duty, not an oversubscription criterion.
Published by the admission authority. Meeting a criterion never guarantees a place — it sets the order places are offered in. Full detail, other entry points and previous years are on the Admissions tab.
