Lakelands Academy

When there are more applications than places for 2027-28 (Year 7), places are offered in this order of priority. Meeting a higher criterion beats meeting a lower one.

1. 1Looked after and previously looked after children — 'Looked after children' or children who were previously ‘looked after’ but immediately after being looked after became subject to an adoption, child arrangements, or special guardianship order including those who appear to the admission authority (Shropshire) to have been in state care outside of England and ceased to be in state care as a result of being adopted.
2. 2In-catchment with older sibling at academy — Priority will be given to children living within the catchment area who will have an older sibling of compulsory school age (11 – 16) at the academy on the day they are due to start there.
3. 3Other in-catchment children — After that, priority will be given to other children who live within the catchment area.
4. 4Out-of-catchment with older sibling at academy — Priority will be given to children living outside the catchment area who will have an older sibling of compulsory school age (11 – 16) at the academy on the day they are due to start there.
5. 5Out-of-catchment, attended catchment-area primary school — Secondly, priority will be given to children living outside the catchment area without an older sibling at the academy, but who have attended a state-funded or publicly - funded primary school that lies within the secondary academy’s catchment area, for more than a whole academic year immediately prior to transfer.
6. 6Other out-of-catchment children — After that, priority will be given to other children who live outside the catchment area.

If two applications tie: If there are more applications than there are places available according to the PAN, priority will be given on the basis of the straight line distance between the home address and the Academy as calculated using a computerised mapping system. The shortest distance will be given priority.

Children with an Education and Health Care Plan naming the school are offered places before other children (statutory duty, placed above oversubscription criteria). Very exceptionally, a child with a particular health reason requiring attendance at a specific school may be given a place before Priorities 2 and 3, with written medical evidence. Sibling definition given. Twins/triplets: school will endeavour to admit all. Closing date October 31st; allocations published March 1st. CATCHMENT: Children living inside the catchment area will have next priority. If there are not enough places for all the children living in the catchment area, we will look at the following two criteria... Transcribed from the school's own determined admission arrangements as published by Shropshire Council. Children with an EHCP naming the school are admitted first; that is a statutory duty, not an oversubscription criterion.

Published by the admission authority. Meeting a criterion never guarantees a place — it sets the order places are offered in. Full detail, other entry points and previous years are on the Admissions tab.
