When there are more applications than places for 2027-28 (Reception), places are offered in this order of priority. Meeting a higher criterion beats meeting a lower one.
If two applications tie: In the event that two applications are exactly the same after all other criteria have been taken into account a tie breaker will be used. This will be by random allocation and overseen by an independent party not connected with the admissions process. Otherwise, each category will be rank ordered according to the distance from home to school as a straight line measurement.
Children with a Statement of Special Educational Needs or Education and Health Care Plan which names Mereside C of E Primary Academy will be allocated places before the ranked criteria are applied. Distance measured as straight line between home address and nearest entrance gate of the school using eastings and northings; ties in flats resolved by lowest flat number nearest ground floor. Deferred entry and part-time attendance options described for summer born children. CATCHMENT: Children living inside the designated catchment area will have priority of admission. If there are not enough places for all the children in the catchment area then the following criteria for admission will apply in order... *The designated catchment area can be viewed through 'Local View' on the Shropshire Council website www.shropshire.gov.uk. Transcribed from the school's own determined admission arrangements as published by Shropshire Council. Children with an EHCP naming the school are admitted first; that is a statutory duty, not an oversubscription criterion.
Published by the admission authority. Meeting a criterion never guarantees a place — it sets the order places are offered in. Full detail, other entry points and previous years are on the Admissions tab.
Same phase, ranked by distance and how closely they match.
