When there are more applications than places for 2027-28 (Year 7), places are offered in this order of priority. Meeting a higher criterion beats meeting a lower one.
If two applications tie: Where candidates have identical aggregate scores: (1) priority to pupils who qualify for the free school meals pupil premium or Ever 6 FSM; (2) then to pupils whose home address is nearest the school by straight-line measurement (Plymouth City Council's GIS / National Land and Property Gazetteer address point). If still tied, a random ballot is conducted by a Plymouth City Council officer using an electronic random number generator.
Unusually, a child with an EHCP naming the school must be admitted first only 'subject to them achieving the cut off score or above for the school for this year of entry' – i.e. EHCP admission at Normal Point of Entry is conditional on meeting the score threshold, unlike the unconditional EHCP admission used by most non-selective schools; this qualifier is not one of the 3 numbered criteria. Section 2 of the document sets a separate, differently-ordered oversubscription criteria list (looked after children; exceptional medical/social need; FSM pupil premium/Ever 6 FSM; sibling; staff; other) used for In-Year Admissions (Year 7 after 31 August 2027, and any admission to Years 8-11), where a late selection test for grammar-school ability is also required before these criteria apply; that list is not reproduced here as it is not a distinct normal point of entry.
