Greenacre School

When there are more applications than places for 2027-28 (Year 7), places are offered in this order of priority. Meeting a higher criterion beats meeting a lower one.

1. 1Looked after and previously looked after children — Looked after children, all previously looked after children (adopted, or subject to a residence order or special guardianship order), and children previously in care outside of England who ceased to be in state care as a result of being adopted.
2. 2Current family association (sibling) — A sibling in the school at the time of application and still attending in September 2027. Sibling means children who live as brother/sister in the same house: natural, adopted, foster and step siblings. Extended family (e.g. cousins) living in the same house do not qualify.
3. 3Children of staff — Children of a member of staff working at the school, where the member of staff has been employed for two or more years.
4. 4Historical sibling — Priority given to applicants with an older sibling who attended WGSP but has left within the past 5 years. Same sibling definition as criterion 2.
5. 5Child's health reasons — Medical evidence must be provided demonstrating a specific health reason which requires the child to attend WGSP as their preferred school.
6. 6Residence in the WGSP School access area — Residence in the WGSP School access area, as mapped in Appendix A (also on the Medway Local Authority admissions page).
7. 7Nearness — Nearness of the child's home and ease of access to the school, per the Local Authority's co-ordinated scheme definition (Appendix B). Distances/routes represent the shortest route to school from the child's home using roads and paths known to the GIS software used by School Admissions & Transport.

If two applications tie: In the event of a tie within any criterion before the last criterion, places are allocated to those living closest to the school by shortest available walking route. Where a tie-breaker is still required (the document refers to this as 'oversubscription criteria 9', though only 7 criteria are listed), names are issued with a number and drawn randomly by an independent witness (a governor).

The school operates as 'The Walderslade & Greenacre Schools Partnership' (WGSP), a co-educational 11-18 partnership; the document refers to itself as WGSP throughout rather than 'Greenacre School' by name, though the council's index and the merged entity's admissions cover Greenacre School. These admissions arrangements are stated to be 'subject to Department for Education approval'. Places are offered to children with an EHCP naming the school following LA consultation; not numbered within the 1-7 list so not included as a criterion.
