Distance depends on the band here
North Liverpool Academy admits by banding: applicants are placed into bands and each band is filled separately, so there is no single last-offer distance. Each band has its own, and which one applies depends on your child's assessment — so one number could not answer this for every child.
How the bands work: Places will be allocated on the basis of fair banding in line with the Department for Education. All applicants take a cognitive ability test (online assessment) used to place them into one of five ability bands (Band 1-5, each 20% / 46 pupils, total 230 pupils). Within each band places are allocated according to the ordered criteria listed. Applicants who do not sit the test are considered after those who did, using the same ordered criteria.
Your local authority’s admissions booklet publishes the cut-off for each band. The full ranked criteria are on the Admissions tab.
When there are more applications than places for 2026-27 (Year 7), places are offered in this order of priority. Meeting a higher criterion beats meeting a lower one.
If two applications tie: Where priority cannot be determined at criterion 5 (distance) because pupils live identical distances, priority will be determined through independently verified random allocation, including where pupils live in the same block of flats or are twins/triplets or other multiple births.
Admission number is 230 for Years 7-11 and 250 for Years 12 and 13. Separate ordered criteria apply for applicants who do not sit the assessment test and for Sixth Form (KS5) oversubscription, both following a similar but distinct order (see document).
Published by the admission authority. Meeting a criterion never guarantees a place — it sets the order places are offered in. Full detail, other entry points and previous years are on the Admissions tab.
