Preston Muslim Girls High School

When there are more applications than places for 2027-28 (Year 7), places are offered in this order of priority. Meeting a higher criterion beats meeting a lower one.

1. 1Previously looked after children — Looked after girls who were previously looked after, but immediately after being looked after became subject to an adoption, child arrangements or a special guardianship order or those girls who appear to the school to have been in state care outside of England and ceased to be in state care as a result of being adopted.
2. 2Staff children — Daughters of staff employed at PMGHS for TWO or more years at the time when the application is made and is still employed at the time of admission. Also, daughters of members of staff who have been recruited to fill a post where there is a demonstrable skill shortage. This applies to all staff (full and part time) who are employed by the school.
3. 3Siblings — Girls with a sibling who is a pupil attending PMGHS at the time of application.
4. 4Affiliated primary school — Girls who attend our affiliated primary school - The Olive School Preston.
5. 5Special/medical/social circumstances — Muslim girls who have exceptionally strong special, medical or social circumstances, which are directly relevant to attendance at PMGHS.
6. 6Masjid/Madrasah attendance (listed) — Muslim girls who themselves or their parents regularly attend a Masjid/Madrasah from the list below, showing a commitment to faith. Allocation is via a weighted Masjid/Madrasah Admission Allocation Table with fixed space quotas per named Masjid/Madrasah, and within each Masjid/Madrasah by weighted attendance categories A (Daily 5 years) > B (Daily 2 years) > C (Weekly 2 years) > D (less than 2 years), with random selection where oversubscribed within a category.
7. 7Other Masjid/Madrasah in Preston — Girls who have a parent/carer of other Masjid/Madrasah and regularly attend public worship in Preston.
8. 8Other Masjid/Madrasah outside Preston — Girls who have a parent/carer of other Masjid/Madrasah and regularly attend public worship outside of Preston.
9. 9Other faiths — Girls who have a parent/carer of other faiths and regularly attend public worship.
10. 10Distance — All remaining applications will be considered under the distance criteria and priority will be given to those girls who live closest to the school.

If two applications tie: Where the cut-off point is for addresses within the same building, then the single measure between address points will apply and a random draw will determine which address(es) receive the offer(s)

Category 6 (Masjid/Madrasah) uses a detailed allocation table with fixed space quotas per named Masjid/Madrasah and weighted attendance sub-categories (A-D) with random selection tie-breaks within categories, as detailed in Note 6 and the Admission Allocation Table.
