Distance depends on the band here
Moor Park High School admits by banding: applicants are placed into bands and each band is filled separately, so there is no single last-offer distance. Each band has its own, and which one applies depends on your child's assessment — so one number could not answer this for every child.
How the bands work: At Moor Park we operate a 'Fair Banding' admissions process... Students taking the assessment are placed in one of five ability bands representative of the national ability range... Band 1 20%, Band 2 20%, Band 3 20%, Band 4 20%, Band 5 20% = 100%. Proposed number of student places available in each ability band on PAN of 112: 26, 26, 26, 26, 26 = 130* (*2 places will be made available for children from any of the bands that most closely fulfil the School's oversubscription criteria, once all bands are full.)
Your local authority’s admissions booklet publishes the cut-off for each band. The full ranked criteria are on the Admissions tab.
When there are more applications than places for 2027-28 (Year 7), places are offered in this order of priority. Meeting a higher criterion beats meeting a lower one.
If two applications tie: The measurement used will be taken in a straight line from the centre point of the residence to the centre point of Moor Park, with nearer addresses having priority over more distant ones. If the Governors are unable to distinguish between applicants using the published criteria (eg. siblings, those living the same distance from home to school, or families residing in the same block of flats) places will be offered via a random draw.
The following criteria will be applied in number order after the admission of pupils with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) naming the school. A non-verbal Fair Banding assessment is required for admission consideration, though EHCP-named pupils, looked after children and previously looked after children are given priority and are not required to follow the fair banding admission process to be admitted, but will still complete the assessment for band allocation purposes.
Published by the admission authority. Meeting a criterion never guarantees a place — it sets the order places are offered in. Full detail, other entry points and previous years are on the Admissions tab.
Same phase, ranked by distance and how closely they match.
