When there are more applications than places for 2027-28 (Year 7), places are offered in this order of priority. Meeting a higher criterion beats meeting a lower one.
If two applications tie: In the event of equal scores within over-subscription categories 2–7, the final determining factor will be the proximity of the child to the school (straight line distance between the candidate's home front door and the front entrance of the school; the Chatburn Road site). In the event of a tied distance measurement between address points, a random draw will determine which address(es) receive the offer(s).
Pupils must first reach the required standard in the entrance examination to be eligible; if the number reaching the required standard is less than 180, all such applicants will be offered a place without recourse to the oversubscription criteria. *Pupil Premium qualification includes having ever qualified for Free School Meals; parents must inform the school in writing prior to the Entrance Examination.
