When there are more applications than places for 2027-28 (Year 7), places are offered in this order of priority. Meeting a higher criterion beats meeting a lower one.
If two applications tie: Where the offer of places to all the applicants in any of the categories listed above would still lead to oversubscription, the available places will be offered to those living nearest the Academy. Straight line distance will be used to measure (see note above).
The Academy also has an on-site ASD specialist provision (Thorn Centre) with up to 15 fixed and 5 transitional places, run in partnership with Kirklees LA, in addition to the 180 PAN. Note (b): children in priority 1 may be admitted above the PAN. Note (c): if requests in priorities 2-5 cannot be met without exceeding PAN, priority up to the PAN is given to children living nearest the school. Note (g): for children transferring from first or middle schools, preference in priorities 2-5 (up to the PAN) is given to children attending a first or middle school in the middle or secondary school PAA. The Academy retains a Priority Admission Area (PAA), also called the catchment area, determined by Kirklees LA in consultation with the governing body.
