was the furthest place offered on offer day for 2026-27 (Year 7). That is how far the last place reached in ONE year — not a boundary, and not a guarantee. It moves with the number of applicants, so treat it as a guide rather than a line on a map.
Last distance offered at The Thomas Alleyne Academy, year by year →
When there are more applications than places for 2027-28 (Year 7), places are offered in this order of priority. Meeting a higher criterion beats meeting a lower one.
If two applications tie: Where there is a need for a tie-break where two different addresses measure the same distance from a school, in the case of a block of flats for example the lower door number will be deemed nearest as logically this will be on the ground floor and therefore closer. If there are two identical addresses of separate applicants, the tie break will be random allocation, undertaken independently of the school by Hertfordshire County Council using an individual random number assigned between 1 and 1 million against each preference school; the lowest number is given priority.
Document also contains a separate Determined Sixth Form Admissions Policy 2027/28 for entry to Year 12 (external applicants), with PAN 20, entry requirement of grade 5+ in English and Maths (plus subject-specific criteria), and its own oversubscription rules: Rule 1 – looked after/previously looked after children (as above); Rule 2 – students in Priority Area 5, with a distance-based tie-break (measured to a point of distance on the school site agreed by Governors) and random allocation for equal distances. Priority Area 5 is defined as Stevenage and surrounding parishes (Aston, Benington, Datchworth, Graveley, Great Ashby, Knebworth, Langley, Wymondley, Stevenage, Walkern), applying to schools Barclay, Barnwell, Marriotts, Nobel, Thomas Alleyne. Multiple births are admitted above PAN in both phases. Fair Access Protocol children are admitted above the Continuing Interest list and above PAN if necessary.
Published by the admission authority. Meeting a criterion never guarantees a place — it sets the order places are offered in. Full detail, other entry points and previous years are on the Admissions tab.
